Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Responsibilities
- Follows the plan of care to provide safe, competent care services to the client
- Offers support to the individuals with their activities of daily living (ADL)
- Observes and report any change in the client’s mental /physical condition or the home situation
- Provides clients’ transportation to and from activities
- Assists in the implementation of individual support plans and behavioral plan goals
- Abides by ethics of individual confidentiality
- Responsible for medication administration and adhering to the policies and procedures regarding medication administration
- Must complete required documentation to reflect client’s outcomes accurately and in a timely fashion
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience working with individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities, preferably 1-3 years
- Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks
- Must possess a valid driver’s license & an insured and registered vehicle
- Ability to pass and maintain required training: DSP, CPR (every 2 years), CPI (every year), CRMA (every 2 years)
