Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Responsibilities

  • Follows the plan of care to provide safe, competent care services to the client
  • Offers support to the individuals with their activities of daily living (ADL)
  • Observes and report any change in the client’s mental /physical condition or the home situation
  • Provides clients’ transportation to and from activities
  • Assists in the implementation of individual support plans and behavioral plan goals
  • Abides by ethics of individual confidentiality
  • Responsible for medication administration and adhering to the policies and procedures regarding medication administration
  • Must complete required documentation to reflect client’s outcomes accurately and in a timely fashion

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience working with individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities, preferably 1-3 years
  • Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license & an insured and registered vehicle
  • Ability to pass and maintain required training: DSP, CPR (every 2 years), CPI (every year), CRMA (every 2 years)
